Waking up to the sunshine was a total bliss. Milan Menswear kicked off this morning with Jil Sander spring and summer 2013 collection. Jil Sander returned to the runway with her first collection in seven years, showing at the Piazza Castello.

The show was in a setting of clinical lightning.

Sanders first look was a sleeveless coat. Masculine elements came through jackets, waistcoats, along with soft element of loose fabric shorts. Which just gave the Sanders man‘s closet that extra, hint of softness.

Monochrome cobalt blue numbers were a running theme.

Colour blocking cardigans just gave the collection that extra hint of expansion of a colour palette; which worked very well within the Sanders man’s garments which already took to the runway.

Jil Sanders spring and summer menswear was all about the long blazers, to look like long coats. (I think it may be a running trend throughout, the weeks of the menswear calendar.) Graphic coded shirts gave a subliminal message. Following on with that a sense of humour took to the runway, with a honeycomb patterns which just nicely broke up the collection.

Overall the collection was beautiful, as Jil Sander stayed at her true roots without veering off on Raf’s pathway.

  Welcome back Jil!
