British Fashion Awards 2012 Winners

Last night was the night to celebrate the most respectable names, in the fashion industry. Held at London’s most famous hotel The Savoy the British Fashion Awards hit out on the red carpet. The guests were kitted out in the names of our industry.  Rita Ora arrived in Vivienne Westwood, Victoria Pendleton head to toe in Stella McCartney, Natalie Massenet MBE dazzled in Peter Pilotto SS13, and the Hostess Gemma Arterton also in Stella McCartney. The list of the outfits could go on and on….

The first award of the night was a stylish one! Three times in a row Alexa Chung won the British Style Award thanks to the public votes. Manolo Blahnik was presented the Outstanding Achievement award for his contribution to fashion. Presented by Pixie Gledof JW Anderson was handed the Emerging Talent Ready to Wear Award whilst, Sophie Hulme received Emerging Talent in the accessories category in the light of her iconic bag designs. Following the steps of the recent Emerging awards Jonathan Saunders was awarded the Emerging Talent award for menswear which was Ronnie Wood.

As the award ceremony continued there was a special award which was handed out, which was not on the list of the nominees Harold Tillman CBE was awarded with the honour of a special recognition award which was presented by HRH Princess Beatrice of York. “The last five years have been extraordinary and seeing the British Fashion Council and the fashion industry go from strength to strength is a reward in itself.”

Awards kept on coming which followed with the Red Carpet award which was awarded to Roksanda Llincic which was presented by British actress Andera Risebrough. Iconic shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood picked up the Accessory Designer award. Presented by actress and model Amber Valleta Stella McCartney was awarded the Designer Brand award.

The Fashion Creator award was presented by Jonathan Saunders and was awarded to Professor Louise Wilson. Following Wilson’s award Erdem won the hotly contested New Establishment award which was presented, by British Fashion Council’s own ambassador Samantha Cameron.

On to the Model award which was presented to Cara Delevingne through her unique sense of style in front of the camera whilst being head to toe in metallic Burberry for tonight event.  The second to last award saw Kim Jones (Louis Vuitton) receive the Menswear Designer Award for the 2nd year running.  For the grand finally of awards, Salama Hayek graced the stage to present the Designer of Year award which went to Stella McCartney by her recognition of a momentous year and her achievements in the fashion industry.
