Net A Porter: Victoria Beckham's Five Party Dressing Rule

by - Thursday, December 13, 2012

During this week’s Net A Porter online magazine Victoria Beckham makes a present for her golden rules for the party circuit. During the interview Victoria unravels her red carpet secrets….
Step 1: Choose a simple day look that can be dressed up for evenings

“If you're going from the office straight to a function, switch up your look with a small clutch, a beautiful gold cuff and a pair of heels. That‘s when I love the ease of my Victoria, Victoria Beckham dresses most – they offer simple silhouettes that you can dress up or down.”

Step 2: Never underestimate the power of a striking bag
“For evening these should be small and carried as a clutch, but large enough for a lip gloss and phone. Go for one of two styles: the slim-line zip pouch or the more structured hexagonal chain bag. I love a flash of chic rose-gold hardware.”

Step 3: Wear show-stopping party heels: “I never tire of a chic pointed pump. They make every outfit look great and also enhance the leg. They're perfect because of how comfortable they are.”
Step 4: It's better to be underdressed than over
“If I'm not sure what the dress code is, I opt to be a little more casual. It’s easier to be underdressed and then carry yourself with confidence. During the colder months, I team evening dresses with my military-inspired structured coats thrown over the shoulders.”

Step 5: Finally sometimes it’s great to go for all-out glamour

“For a formal function, I often wear one of my signature dresses as they're appropriate for black tie. I feel confident as they look good from every angle – always an important factor for evening events. I pair with my favourite heels, great hair and makeup, and, of course, one of my bags.”

Follow Victoria’s golden rules to make sure you have the ultimate fashionable festive season..
