What to Wear for Girls' Night Out: 4 Fashion Tips for Winter Outings

by - Friday, April 12, 2013

It’s been a very cold bleak Friday here in the UK and the only which enlightens everyone around me is the fact it’s nearly the weekend! Brooke has put together looks to help you beat this indescribable weather were having at the moment…
Spending time with friends is a rare treat, but after dealing with all your personal and professional obligations, who has time to even think about looking pretty? You don't want to miss out on the fun just because you don't have anything to wear, so take a look at some of these quick and easy fashion tips for looking fabulous during your much-deserved night out.

1. Fun Accessories

When you have an evening free from the obligations of work, school, family or whatever else keeps you busy, it's a great opportunity to let your hair down and have fun on your night out. Although classy and sophisticated accessories are always in style, it's much more fun to get crazy with funky, special occasion-only accessories. For example, if you've been dying for the opportunity to wear that sassy animal print scarf, throw it on to get in touch with your feisty side. Put on your sparkly sequin belt for a flattering finishing touch or try some clip-in feather hair extensions for a cute and creative
touch of color.

2. Sexy Heels

From girls' night to date night, my fashion rule of thumb is: "If you want to look good, wear heels." Flats can be darling and there are plenty of reasons to put on a comfier pair of shoes for a night out (namely, to avoid the pain that comes with wearing tall shoes), but nothing makes you feel more sexy and feminine than a good pair of heels. When you're caught up with your busy life, you probably don't get as many occasions to show off your favorite platforms or stilettos, so why not go all out on your night out by wearing footwear you can feel great in?

3. Main Event

When it comes to your "main event" outfit, choose that fabulous dress or skirt you've been dying to wear to look your best. Dressing up is fun, and when you look good, you feel good. When in doubt, choose an outfit that's a bit more fancy than you usually shoot for to make your night extra special. However, if you're feeling more casual, a comfy pair of skinny jeans and a simple blouse with an embellished collar can be a great look that's fancy and versatile for multiple outing destinations.

4. Classy Coat

The winter weather can be relentless sometimes, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice style for comfort. Unfortunately, your basic puffy coat won't work with your fancier outfits, so you might want to invest in (or borrow!) more sophisticated outerwear to stay warm without clashing. A basic trench coat with a belt tie is always a great classic look that can be worn over virtually any outfit. However, a luxurious fur coat (faux or real) can also be a fun way to go all out and stay toasty warm in the coldest temperatures.

For girls' night out, you have the unique opportunity to celebrate being a woman, so why not embrace your femininity with these four feisty and fierce outfit ideas? I'm a huge advocate of the "look good, feel good" motto, so whatever you choose, make sure it's something you feel truly comfortable and confident wearing. Since you're with friends, don't be afraid to put a little personality into your look with your own quirky touches!
