New York Fashion Week: Victoria, Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

by - Monday, September 09, 2013

She changed it all at her mainline collection show last Sunday and now Victoria Beckham has gone even further with her Victoria girl regarding, her sister line’s spring/summer 2014 collection presentation. It’s a 22 piece collection full of colour whilst, having that addition of jacquard and print in a tone of a palette yet it is very fresh whilst still keeping that grown up look (we saw at the autumn/winter 2013 show).

Colour blocking come’s the Victoria girl’s way this coming spring/summer season from the salmon pink, red, mustard yellow, black, white and even right down to the purples amongst the floral and tile prints (which are very rich when in presence of them).

This entire colour comes in one of Victoria’s signatures which is the perfect dress whilst not being too fitted we’ve seen from other seasons. You’ve still got ¾ length sleeves on some and the cut of the hems being just from above the knee to lower calf. Yet some of the looks in the collection give this persona of sophistication to the Victoria girl.

Looking at some of the dresses in the collection you can see that Victoria has carried that exploration of shapes and fluidity which was her inspiration for the mainline of the brand.  It’s shown through a very slouchy orange dress which features, details of pleats which has been created due to the placement of the belt which is placed on the hip giving a very roomy and yet relaxed look.
Pleats continue to be showcased throughout, the collection from one of the floral print dresses amongst the oversized cocoon dress which is Victoria’s favourite dress of the collection on a grey palette. Then you’ve got that dress which is in a beautiful colour blocked palette with the belt for that cinched waist whilst, having the correct amount of hem length to go with the beautiful pleats of the garment.

Victoria's Favourite Dress

From the high to low waist the dressers and colours just highlight how far Victoria has come from the launch of being, a designer with the much fitted transitional daywear to eveningwear dress collection. Now she has executed at being confident of playing with shapes and fluidity of a women’s body whilst bringing a fresh moment to the Victoria girl.
